Additional information

Part of the Isle of Man Treasury's long-running Harry Potter licensing program, which began in 2001 and produced one of the more commercially aggressive coin series tied to a film franchise. The Treasury has never been shy about novelty issues — the island's unusual constitutional position outside the UK allows it to issue its own coinage independently of the Royal Mint, making it a convenient vehicle for licensed collectibles that would never appear on standard British currency.

The Prisoner of Azkaban film released the same year.
