Issued to mark the 95th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, this is one of dozens of commemorative crowns the Isle of Man Treasury produced throughout the 1980s and 1990s under the Pobjoy Mint contract — a commercial arrangement that made the island one of the most prolific issuers of collector-targeted coinage in the British Isles. The Queen Mother turned 95 on August 4, 1995, making her at that point the oldest living member of the British royal family.
