| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered after the fourth definitive effigy by Ian Rank-Broadley, wearing a diamond diadem and a pearl drop earring. The portrait is executed in fine detail with carefully modelled hair set in characteristic curls. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II to the left and ISLE OF MAN to the right, with the date 2002 positioned at the lower right. The engraver's initials IRB appear at the truncation of the bust. Two small triskelion privy marks of the Isle of Man flank the legend at the upper field, and a fine toothed border frames the entire obverse. |

| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in which the three young wizards Hermione Granger, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley are gathered around a large bubbling cauldron containing the Polyjuice Potion, set against a dark Gothic background suggestive of Hogwarts castle. Flames rise beneath the cauldron in the lower field, above which the denomination 1 CROWN is inscribed along the base. The legend HARRY POTTER arcs across the upper field in bold lettering, while the stylised Harry Potter franchise logotype appears in the right field. The composition is rendered in a narrative illustrative style typical of commemorative issues produced by the Pobjoy Mint. |
