| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace with drop earring, as modelled by Raphael David Maklouf. The portrait is a mature third definitive effigy, rendered in high relief with fine detail in the hair and crown. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field, with GIBRALTAR and the date 1998 arcing along the right field.
