| Additional information |
Issued by the Isle of Man, which has a long history of producing themed crowns aimed squarely at the collector market, this piece commemorates Paddington Bear on the fiftieth anniversary of Michael Bond's original 1958 novel. The Isle of Man Treasury has used the crown denomination extensively since the 1970s for exactly this kind of licensed commemorative, operating largely outside the constraints that govern legal tender coinage for actual circulation.
