Obverse description Arnold Machin's first definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted as a right-facing truncated bust with wavy hair adorned by a tiara. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, with fine detail in the Queen's hair and jewelled crown. The legend ISLE OF MAN arcs along the left periphery and ELIZABETH II along the right, with the date 1980 positioned centrally at the bottom. The Pobjoy Mint mark (PM) appears in small letters just below the bust truncation. The coin is bordered by a fine reeded rim.
