Reverse description The central field depicts a column of World War I British soldiers marching in full kit, bearing rifles with fixed bayonets, rendered in bold relief against a rising sun background with birds in flight above. In the lower portion of the field, a colour-printed Union Flag is draped diagonally beneath the troops. The date range 1914-1918 appears on a scroll at the foot of the central design, which is flanked on either side by laurel branches forming a wreath. The peripheral legend KEEP THE HOME FIRES BURNING arcs across the upper field, while OFF TO WAR and ONE CROWN appear in the lower exergue.
