Gibraltar's Crown issues of the mid-2000s were produced under a licensing arrangement with the Pobjoy Mint, which struck the bulk of the territory's commemorative coinage during this period. The series was aimed squarely at the thematic collector market rather than circulation, and most examples were sold directly into collections — accounting for the consistently high grades encountered today.
