Mother Teresa received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1985, awarded by Ronald Reagan — one of roughly a dozen foreign nationals to have received it at that point in American history. Tristan da Cunha, a British Overseas Territory with a population under 300, has built a substantial portion of its modern revenue on commemorative issues like this one, which circulate nowhere and exist almost entirely for the collector market.
