| Reverse description | Central bust of Queen Victoria facing left, veiled and crowned with the Imperial State Crown, wearing a pearl necklace and elaborate jewelled robes, commemorating her proclamation as Empress of India in 1876. Flanking the effigy are allegorical figures and attendants evoking the pageantry of the Victorian imperial court, with a lion prominently rendered to the left. A cartouche bearing the inscription EMPRESS OF INDIA appears across the lower central field, with the numeral 1 enclosed within a circular device immediately below, and the denomination CROWN inscribed along the lower periphery. The legend THE VICTORIAN AGE arcs along the upper rim, with the date 1876 positioned to the upper left. |
