| Obverse description | Central field depicts the iconic 1947 royal wedding portrait of Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, shown as full busts facing forward, the bride in her wedding veil and gown and the groom in naval dress uniform. An open book is rendered in the lower foreground between the two figures. The inscription ROYAL WEDDING NOVEMBER 20· 1947 appears in the exergue below the portrait, with ONE CROWN inscribed along the lower rim. The circular legend DIAMOND WEDDING OF H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II & H.R.H. PRINCE PHILIP runs around the periphery, and the royal cyphers of both Elizabeth II and Prince Philip appear at the base of the design. |
