Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in high relief with fine detail on the diadem and hair. The legend HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II · TDC is arranged peripherally around the upper portion of the field, separated from the portrait by a beaded inner border. The date 2014 appears in the exergue below the effigy.

Reverse description A black-and-white photographic reproduction depicting Allied soldiers wading through the sea during the D-Day landings of 6 June 1944 dominates the central field. A color-applied Union flag is depicted above the scene. The names of the five Normandy landing beaches — UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO, and SWORD — are inscribed below the central image. Flanking the composition to left and right are the flags of the Allied nations. The denomination ONE CROWN and the commemorative inscription 70th appear within a decorative wreath at the base, alongside the legend D DAY. 6TH JUNE 1944.
