Reverse description The central field features a black and white photographic-style depiction of Allied paratroopers in action, evoking the D-Day landings of 6 June 1944. A colorized Union flag is prominently displayed above the central scene. Flanking the main image to the left and right are small flags of the Allied nations. Below the central vignette, the names of the five Normandy landing beaches — UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO, and SWORD — are inscribed in a horizontal line, with the denomination ONE CROWN and the commemorative inscription 70th appearing within a decorative wreath at the base of the design. The upper legend reads D DAY. 6TH JUNE 1944.
