Additional information

The 1984 Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference was held in the Isle of Man — one of the few occasions the CPA met in a Crown dependency rather than a full member state. The Manx government used the event aggressively as a prestige opportunity, issuing this crown in no fewer than five metallic variants, of which the platinum is the rarest and least documented in terms of confirmed mintage figures.

At 52g in .950 platinum, production costs alone would have dwarfed the face value many times over. Pieces like this were sold directly to collectors and diplomats attending the conference itself.
