| Reverse description | A three-quarter front-facing portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, Princess Royal, turned slightly to the left, rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The commemorative legend THIRTIETH COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE arcs around the upper and lateral periphery, while the denomination ONE CROWN appears in the lower portion of the field, enclosed by central dots. The composition commemorates the 30th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference held in 1984. |

| Additional information |
The 1984 Commonwealth Conference was held in Gaborone, Botswana — the first time the summit had convened on African soil. The Isle of Man's Pobjoy Mint used the occasion, as it frequently did in this period, to push precious metal variants well beyond what any conference delegate would have received. The platinum striking at .950 fineness and 52 grams places it firmly in the collector-only tier; no circulation intent existed.
Princess Anne's involvement with the Commonwealth was substantive — she had been active in Commonwealth Games and development programs through the 1970s. Mintage figures for this platinum variant were almost certainly in the dozens.
