Additional information

The 1984 Commonwealth Conference was held in Gaborone, Botswana — the first time the summit had convened on African soil. The Isle of Man's Pobjoy Mint used the occasion, as it frequently did in this period, to push precious metal variants well beyond what any conference delegate would have received. The platinum striking at .950 fineness and 52 grams places it firmly in the collector-only tier; no circulation intent existed.

Princess Anne's involvement with the Commonwealth was substantive — she had been active in Commonwealth Games and development programs through the 1970s. Mintage figures for this platinum variant were almost certainly in the dozens.
