| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the third definitive portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, depicting the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem, a pearl drop earring, and a pearl necklace. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower rim. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field, while ISLE OF MAN curves along the upper right, and the date 1996 appears at the lower right, all in raised Latin lettering.
