| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a diamond diadem and drop earring, with a draped bust, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The portrait is rendered in fine relief with carefully detailed coiffure. The legend ELIZABETH · II · 2015 arcs along the upper left periphery, while ASCENSION ISLAND continues along the right, all in raised Latin lettering. The designer's initials IRB appear at the truncation of the bust. A raised rim borders the field. |

| Additional information |
Ascension Island has no indigenous population and no domestic monetary tradition — its coins are issued solely for the collector market, with sterling as the functional currency used by the rotating military and civilian personnel stationed there. This crown was released to mark the 800th anniversary of the 1215 agreement forced upon King John at Runnymede, an event Ascension Island has no historical connection to whatsoever. The piece was almost certainly produced by the Pobjoy Mint, which has held the contract for most Ascension Island collector issues since the 1970s.
