The Isle of Man has issued commemorative crowns so prolifically since the 1970s that the series long ago outpaced any serious numismatic demand. This 1999 anniversary piece marks thirty years from the Apollo 11 lunar landing of July 1969 — an event the Manx government had no particular connection to, but which provided reliable commercial fodder for the Pobjoy Mint, the island's longtime striking partner.
