Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem with drop pearl earring and robes, rendered in high relief after the Rank-Broadley portrait. The legend H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery and TRISTAN DA CUNHA along the upper right, both separated by the beaded border. The date 2017 appears in the lower exergue beneath the effigy.

Reverse description Central field depicts a World War I soldier in helmet and full kit advancing through a trench amid rocky, battle-scarred terrain, rendered in detailed relief. The scene is framed by a wreath of laurel branches encircling the central design. A gilt privy mark in the form of a WWI-era poppy badge appears at the top center of the wreath. The arc legend BATTLE OF THE MARNE runs along the upper periphery, flanked by the dates 5th SEPTEMBER 1914 on the left and 12th SEPTEMBER 1914 on the right, with ONE CROWN inscribed along the lower arc within the wreath border.
