Obverse description Right-facing draped and crowned bust of King Edward VI, rendered in the flat, linear style characteristic of mid-Tudor hammered coinage. The king wears an ornate crown with fleurs-de-lis and cross pattée decoration. The effigy is set within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend arranged around the periphery beginning at the upper left. A mintmark appears above the bust at the commencement of the legend.

The encircling Latin legend occupies the outer field between the inner and outer beaded borders.
