Obverse description A plain cross with slightly tapered arms occupies the central field, enclosed within a thin raised inner circle. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan shape typical of hammered coinage of the period. A beaded border runs along the outer rim, partially visible around the circumference. The fields are flat and unadorned, reflecting the austere, emergency-issue character of Confederate Catholic coinage struck during the Irish Confederate Wars.
