| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the quartered Austria-Burgundy arms, surmounted by a crown, and flanked symmetrically by two firesteels emitting sparks — emblems of the Order of the Golden Fleece. A radiant sun appears at the top of the field above the crown. The overall composition is characteristic of Habsburgian heraldic coinage of the early sixteenth century, with the devices rendered in the bold relief typical of hammered gold coinage of Flanders. |

| Obverse lettering | CARO · D : G · RO · IMP · HISP · REX · DVX · BVRG · CO · HOL (Translation: Charles, by the Grace of God, Emperor of the Romans, King of the Spaniards, Duke of Burgundy, Count of Holland) |
| Reverse description | An ornate cross with fleur-de-lis at each terminal, dividing the field into four quarters in which towers and double-headed imperial eagles alternate. The encircling legend incorporates the date 1541 and a mint mark at the conclusion of the inscription. The design reflects the imperial dignity of Charles V through the deliberate combination of Castilian and Imperial heraldic elements within the cross quarters. |
