| Obverse description | First laureate and long-wigged draped bust of King Charles II facing right, rendered in high relief with flowing curls extending to the shoulder and a knotted drapery at the truncation. The effigy is engraved in the bold Baroque style characteristic of the early Restoration milled coinage. The peripheral legend is divided by the bust and reads CAROLVS·II DEI·GRATIA, with a beaded inner border and milled edge visible at the rim. |
