Obverse description Fourth crowned bust of King Charles I facing left, wearing a mantle with lace collar, the hair falling to the shoulder. The crowned effigy fills the field, with the denomination mark V (crown) visible to the right of the bust. A beaded inner circle borders the design, and the Latin royal legend runs continuously around the periphery between the inner and outer beaded rims.
