Reverse description Centrally positioned crowned quartered shield of arms displaying the royal coat of arms of England and Scotland in the first and fourth quarters, France ancient (semée of fleurs-de-lis) in the second quarter, and Ireland (harp) in the third quarter. The shield is surmounted by a large ornate royal crown, and the entire composition is encircled by the Latin legend within a beaded border. The mintmark Cross Calvary appears at the commencement of the legend, identifying this as an early issue of the Tower Mint under Charles I.
