| Obverse description | Royal cypher of King Charles I comprising the interlaced initials C and R (Carolus Rex) in the lower field, surmounted by a large imperially crowned crown rendered in fine hammered relief. The crown displays arched bands decorated with jewelled ornament, fleurs-de-lis, and a cross pattee at the summit. The devices occupy the central field with no surrounding legend, and the coin is bordered by a beaded inner circle within a plain rim. |
