| Obverse description | Central field depicts the heraldic eagle of Saluzzo displayed with spread wings, superimposed upon the quartered arms of the Marquisate of Saluzzo, all within a linear inner circle. The eagle's head is turned to the left and is surmounted by a crown. The surrounding Latin legend reads MICHAEL. ANT. - M. SALVTIAR., identifying the issuing marquis Michele Antonio. The design is rendered in the vigorous hammered style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Italian feudal coinage. |
