| Obverse description | Facing bust of Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, the Spanish conquistador and founder of Nicaragua, rendered in high relief at the center of the field. The subject is depicted with a full beard and period costume featuring a prominent ruffled collar. The circular legend REPÚBLICA DE NICARAGUA arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1912 positioned in the lower exergue.
