Reverse description The elaborate crowned royal arms of Bavaria occupy the centre of the field, displaying the characteristic blue and white fusilly lozengy shield of Bavaria quartered with the Palatinate lion, topped by a royal crown. The escutcheon is supported on either side by two rampant Bavarian lions facing outward, each gripping a lance, with crossed lances and foliage at the base forming a decorative cartouche. The date 1806 appears in the lower exergue beneath the shield, and the patriotic legend arcs around the upper portion of the field.
