Comments

The Southern People's Bank (南方人民银行) was one of several regional Communist-administered banks operating in south China during the final phase of the Civil War. These institutions issued local currency to facilitate trade and military logistics in newly liberated areas before the People's Bank of China had fully consolidated monetary authority — a consolidation that would effectively render most of these regional notes obsolete within months of issue.

P#S3483 is among the scarcer emissions from this bank. Short print runs, rapid political reorganization, and deliberate withdrawal from circulation mean surviving examples are genuinely uncommon, particularly in anything approaching undamaged condition.
