| Reverse description | The reverse presents a right-facing portrait bust of Karol Wojtyla, the future Pope John Paul II, rendered in low relief and occupying the central field. The subject is depicted in clerical dress, with fine detail applied to the facial features and hair. The name KAROL WOJTYLA arcs along the upper legend in capital letters. In the lower portion of the field, the dates 1946 and 1958 flank the word SACERDOT, commemorating his ordination as priest and his elevation to bishop respectively. |

Andorra's 2005 euro-cent issues were produced in anticipation of eventual eurozone membership — a status the country still hadn't formalized, meaning these coins were struck as legal tender for a currency system Andorra wasn't yet officially part of. The series honored figures central to Andorran identity, and John Paul II appeared the same year he died, making this a de facto memorial issue despite almost certainly not being conceived as one.
