| Obverse description | The obverse of this reverse trial piece displays the same design as the reverse: a finely rendered open wreath of olive branches, with detailed leaves and berries, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. Within the wreath, the denomination numeral '1' appears at the top of the field, followed by the legend 'CENTAVO' in the centre and the date '1852' below, all in bold serif lettering. The field is smooth and unadorned outside the wreath, and the coin is bordered by a fine dentilated rim. As a reverse trial, this face bears the definitive reverse design used for testing die alignment and strike quality. |
