Additional information

Durango was one of several Mexican states that issued its own emergency coinage during the Revolution, when the collapse of federal authority left regional commanders and provisional governments scrambling to pay troops and maintain basic commerce. The state's copper centavos of 1914 were authorized under Constitutionalist control as Carranza's forces contested the region against Villista and federal opposition. Production was crude by design — speed mattered more than finish.

Die alignment and planchet quality vary considerably across surviving examples, a predictable consequence of improvised provincial minting under wartime conditions.
