| Obverse description | Printed in red-brown on plain paper, the note carries a circular vignette of the Portuguese Coat of Arms at centre, flanked on either side by large numeral "1" within dark medallions above the denomination "CENTAVO". A decorative floral guilloche border frames the entire design, with the monogram "C.M.C." in scrollwork cartouches at the lower corners.
