| Additional information |
Nicaragua's centavo coinage of this period was produced almost entirely at the Philadelphia Mint under contract, a common arrangement for Central American republics that lacked their own minting infrastructure. The long date span masks significant gaps in production — issues were struck in batches responding to currency shortages rather than on any regular schedule.
The 1929 issue coincided with a period of active U.S. Marine occupation and the guerrilla war waged by Augusto Sandino against both Nicaraguan government forces and American troops.
