| Obverse description | Central device depicts a radiant sun with a smooth central disk from which numerous fine, evenly spaced rays emanate to fill the field. The date appears at the top of the coin, arching above the solar motif. The circular legend REPUBLICA PERUANA runs along the periphery, flanked on either side by a beaded border. The overall design is clean and emblematic, reflecting the republican iconography of 19th-century Peru. |

| Reverse description | The denomination UN CENTAVO is inscribed in two lines at the center of the field in bold, serifed capital letters. This central inscription is encircled by a wreath composed of laurel and floral branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow, the branches rising symmetrically on either side to meet at the top of the design. A beaded border follows the coin's rim. The composition is restrained and formal, consistent with the utilitarian character of the decimal coinage series. |
