Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of Queen Victoria, engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon, depicting the young queen with an ornate diadem and her hair dressed in waves gathered into a chignon at the nape, secured with a ribbon. The truncation of the neck is bare. The legend VICTORIA QUEEN arcs around the field, divided by the portrait, with a toothed border encircling the entire design.
