Obverse description Left-facing diademed and draped bust of Queen Victoria, her hair elaborately coiled and tied with a ribbon at the nape, wearing a small coronet adorned with jewels. The effigy is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the legend VICTORIA QUEEN arcing across the upper field and the date 1871 positioned at the bottom. Two small rosette ornaments flank the date on either side of the beaded border. The portrait is engraved in the refined classical style characteristic of Leonard Charles Wyon.
