Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield bearing crossed tools and a sailing vessel, flanked by two woodcutters as supporters, each holding a woodcutting implement over their shoulder, with a mahogany tree rising above the shield. A scrolled ribbon below bears the motto legend SUB UMBRA FLOREO, and the date 1974 appears in the lower field beneath the wreath. The entire device is encircled by a laurel wreath, with the country name BELIZE arching across the upper field. A continuous beaded border frames the design at the rim.

Reverse description Two swallow-tailed kites (Elanoides forficatus) are depicted in dynamic flight, their distinctive forked tails and outstretched wings rendered in fine relief against the mirror-polished field. The denomination legend ONE CENT is inscribed in the lower portion of the field. A continuous beaded border encircles the design at the rim, consistent with the proof striking of this Franklin Mint issue.
