Obverse description Allegorical seated figure of the French Republic (Marianne) occupying the left and upper field, helmeted and draped, holding a spear in her left hand while gesturing with her right arm toward a kneeling indigenous figure to the right, symbolizing the Franco-Indochinese alliance. A central round hole interrupts the composition. The denomination '1 CENT' appears in the lower field, with the mint mark 'A' (Paris) below, flanked by decorative scrollwork. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE' curves along the left and right periphery, within a raised rim. The design is attributed to engraver Jean-Baptiste-Daniel Dupuis and executed in fine relief.
