Obverse description The obverse features an allegorical group composition by engraver Dupuis, centered on the round central hole. A seated female figure representing the French Republic is depicted at left, draped and facing right, while a second allegorical female figure, representing the colonies or Indochina, is positioned at right in a reclining posture. The denomination '1 CENT' appears in the lower field below the central perforation, with the mint mark 'A' (Paris) at the base. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE' arcs around the upper periphery in Latin characters, all contained within a dentilated border.
