(Translation: French Republic, 1 Cent)
Reverse description The reverse features four large Chinese characters arranged around the central round perforation, reading '一百分之一' (one hundredth), displayed in the four cardinal positions within an inner beaded circle. The circular Latin legend 'INDO - CHINE FRANÇAISE' arcs along the upper periphery between two beaded borders, while the date '1896' appears in the lower exergual area. The word 'ESSAI' is discreetly inscribed at the lower right between the beaded borders, confirming the pattern status of this piece.
