Obverse description Allegorical seated figure of the French Republic (Marianne) facing left, wearing a radiate crown, draped in classical robes, holding a fasces upright in her raised right hand, with an anchor at her side and tropical vegetation in the left field. The peripheral legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE arcs around the upper portion of the coin, separated from the central design by a beaded inner border. The date 1892 appears in the lower exergue, with the mint mark A and engraver's initials A.B. inscribed on the exergual line.
