Minnesota's liquor tax stamps of this period occupy an awkward category — neither banknote nor postage stamp, but catalogued by notaphilists largely because of their small paper format and the care taken in their production to resist counterfeiting. The 1958 series was issued under the state's retail liquor dealer licensing framework, affixed to individual bottles as proof of tax payment at point of sale.
At 33 x 23 mm, these are among the smallest fiscals in any serious Minnesota collection.
