Reverse description A frontal view of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., depicted in fine architectural detail, with the columned facade spanning the central field. The denomination ONE CENT appears in the lower portion of the field, with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcing along the upper rim. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed in the upper central field, with each word separated by five-pointed stars. The designer's initials FG appear at the lower right of the memorial structure. The overall composition, designed by Frank Gasparro, marks the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.
