| Obverse description | Crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, modelled by Percy Metcalfe, wearing the Imperial State Crown with robes visible at the truncation. The king's portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the crown's jewelled arches and cross pattée. A beaded border frames the design at the rim. The circular legend reads GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA, disposed around the upper and lower periphery in Roman capitals. |
