Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, wearing the Imperial State Crown, engraved in high relief against a smooth field. The portrait, modelled by Percy Metcalfe, presents a bare-necked bust with fine facial detail. A circular legend surrounding the effigy reads 'GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA', with the engraver's initials 'PM' appearing discreetly below the truncation. The coin is bordered by a continuous toothed rim.
