Reverse description The reverse features a central circular hole encircled by two boldly rendered curved elephant tusks, their tips pointing upward and outward to flank the perforation in a heraldic arrangement. The legend EAST AFRICA arcs across the upper field, and the numeral '1' is placed immediately above the hole. The date is inscribed in the lower field, with a mintmark when applicable. The entire design is contained within a beaded border.
