Obverse description A central circular hole dominates the field, with the crowned royal cypher and denomination flanking it above and below respectively. The legend GEORGIVS V REX ET IND:IMP: encircles the design, reading around the beaded border. A mintmark, when present, appears below the letters EN of CENT. The overall layout is characteristic of the holed coinage issued for British East African territories.
