Additional information

The Cook Islands, a self-governing territory in free association with New Zealand, has long issued its own coinage despite having no central bank and minimal domestic commerce requiring it. These coins circulate alongside New Zealand currency and are legal tender, though in practice the low-denomination aluminium pieces rarely see sustained use.

KM#419 belongs to a late series refresh rather than an original issue, produced well after Cook Islands coinage had become more attractive to collectors than to shopkeepers.
